Mike Marlier has been teaching privately for over 30 years. In 1995, he was contacted by the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. Now in his 14th year as the Director of Drum Set Studies, he continues to oversee a thriving studio of young drummers. Mike draws upon his vast experience as a professional drummer to create a curriculum that is diverse, engaging and challenging. He strives to find the most efficient approach to playing the drum set. While maintaining a busy clinic and masterclass schedule, Mike is also in demand as a studio drummer, recording countless radio and TV ads over the years.
Mike Marlier has performed and recorded with Dave Grusin, Ernie Watts, the GRP All Stars, Gerald Albright, the Neophonic Jazz Orchestra, Andy Nevala, Dave Valentin, and Nelson Rangell. He continues to play and tour with Dave Grusin and Nelson Rangell, and performs annually at the Conference on World Affairs in Boulder. He is the staff drummer at the Mile Hi Church in Denver and was recently featured with the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra's Tribute to Buddy Rich.
