Emanuel Harrold
Drummer/Producer/Composer/Educator
Native of St. Louis, MO., Harrold began pursuing drums at a moderate age. His professional career began at the age of seventeen playing with the Willie Akins Quartet. While in St. Louis, Harrold recorded drum tracks for Mel Bay Publication's educational books and DVD's on the styles of the music greats like John Coltrane, Grant Green, and Charlie Parker. He has also done several off-Broadway shows under the musical direction of Neal Tate at The St. Louis' Black Repertory Theatre such as, Bubblin' Brown Suga, Late Great Ladies of Jazz and Blues starring Sandra Reeves-Philips, Damn Yankees, Gospel at Colonus (featuring actor Antonio 'Huggy Bear' Fargus) ,"Aint Mis Behaven" and at the Livin Theator in New York a show entitled, The Connection ft Rene McLean. In January 2004 Emanuel moved to New York to attend the New School University. Since relocating to New York, has worked and or recorded with music giants such as Bruce Barth, John Hicks, James Spaulding, Charles Mingus Dynasty Band, Don Braden, Frank Lacey, Rene McLean, Roy Hargrove, Keyon Harrold, Patience Higgins, Robert Glasper, John Hendricks, Randy Weston Kidz in the Hall, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Greg Tardy amongst many others. Emanuel has studied and is mentored by notables such as Jeff 'Tain' Watts, Carl Allen, Chris "Daddy" Dave, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie and Billie Hart. He has also recorded live drums for Destiny's Child Half Time show for the Dallas Cowboy's game in November 2004. Emanuel drumming has recieved a recent grammy nomination on Gregory Porter's 2010 record, "Water." Currently Harrold can be seen performing with Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, The Gregory Porter Group and Kidz in the Hall. Emanuel Harrold is a steady rising voice in both drumming and in the music scene today.
